4 April (Task 3) Chap 16 Data Handling: Histograms - Comparing with Bar Charts [5 min]

Below are 2 examples of Bar Charts.
Let's compare Histograms and Bar charts...
  • What difference do you observe?
  • When do you use a bar chart and when would you use a histogram?

  1. In a bar graph, the bars are equally spaced out. However, in a histogram, there are no gaps and the bars are stuck together.

  2. Bar graphs have spaces in between the graphs but bar charts do not.

  3. In Bar Graphs, the bars are equally spaced while in Histograms, they are closely put together.

We use a histogram to plot changes in quantities over a period of time, normally in science

  4. Bar graphs have spaces in between the graphs but histograms do not. The x axis of bargraphs has words while the x axis of histograms has numbers.

  5. Bar graph have spaces between them but charts do not. Bar charts are used when plotting things

  6. Bar graphs have equal spaces between each bar but histograms' bars are stuck together

  7. Bar graphs have spaces between each bar but histograms do not.
Bar charts are used when plotting information but histograms are used to plot changes over time

  8. Bar Graphs have spaces in between the bar but histograms doesn't.

  9. Unlike histograms, bar graphs have gaps between each bar.
Usually the x axis of the bar graph is labeled with words, not numbers.
Bar graphs would work well with things like polls. Histograms are used to represent data collected over a period of time.

  10. 1)The bars in a bar graph have spaces in between but the bars in a histogram have no spaces in between.

2)We use bar graph to display categorical Data and histogram to display continuous Data.

  12. Bar graphs have spaces between bars, but histogram bars are placed together with no spaces.

Bar graphs are used for frequency of different objects, while histograms are used for numbers that are grouped.

  13. 1. There are no gaps between the bars, unlike the bar charts.
    2. Histograms are used when we need to plot changes over time.

  14. We use Bar graphs when we compare different subjects but use Histogram to compare changes in a particular subject

  15. The bar graphs have equal spaces between, while histograms have no space in between the bars

  17. Histograms features bars do not have spaces between each other, unlike bar graphs.
A histogram is used to display large numbers of information, and bar graphs have labels to display information, represent that label (?)

  18. 1. Bar graphs have spaces between the bars but the histograms does not.
    2. A Bar graph is used to show comparison of values but the histogram is more specific and have frequencies.

  19. In Bar Graphs, the bars are equally spaced while in Histograms, they are close together. Bar graphs have labels and histograms do not.

  20. For histograms, there are no spaces between each rectangle bar. However, for bar graphs the bars are all equally spaced apart.
Histograms are used to summarise a graph while bar graphs are used for graphing frequencies.

  21. There are no gaps between the bars. Bar graphs have labels and histograms do not.

  22. There is no gaps
you can use a Histogram to organize and display the data in a more user-friendly format.it is also used to Summarize large data sets graphically
    Compare measurements to specifications
    Communicate information to the team
    Assist in decision making

A bar graph shows you the frequency of each element in a set of data. The height of each bar represents how many of that data element there are.

2)Bar graphs display categorical data while his histogram displays continuous data.
